Undignified

October 18, 2008 passed by just like that after days, weeks and months of preparation. I was really nervous in order to put this whole event together. It is indeed tiring to run around getting errands done, giving out posters and flyers, informing people, sending out invitation and et cetera. But God is so gracious to me that He gave me the strength that I needed to pull through. The team from Grace Methodist Church, Singapore arrived on Friday (17th October) and it is so good to see familiar faces on the bus. Mervin, Xing Qi and Rachel; people that I've been doing life with since we were studying together in Hillsong. To be able to come together for one purpose is just absolutely awesome.

Fetch the team from Radius Hotel to church because it was pouring. It is scary driving the 15 seater for the first time. But praise God I pulled through. The RD 700 that Rachel ordered came and later on, Vince Seah from DrummerForChrist came together with the drumkits. All of us together with the GMC meet up to introduce ourselves, getting to know each other and discuss on the setups and the flow of the whole event. After an evening of dinner next door, set up, rehearsals and sound check, I managed to take some of the boys from GMC to Ampang for Ramly burger. Thanks to Justin for handling the DFC team for me while I was gone. Kudos to you. I've never seen people so happy see Ramly burger stalls and enjoy eating them before.

On the actual day itself (Saturday), I took the GMC team to the Bukit Bintang market at Jalan Imbi for Hainan tea. The team loves it together with the amount of food we ordered: popiah, toast, eggs, wantan noodles, pork noodles. We could actually feed amount of people with it. The place serves the beset hainan tea. Will blog about it next time. We head back to church for rehearsal and of course the journey back to church is a bit tough. Having a full van of people that just ate a big breakfast adds more weight to the van. Driving the 15 seater van is a challenge. No power steering and the van is HUGE compared to my mini Myvi.

At 2 p.m. the DFC team conducted a Shed Session (which I will talk about it more in my next post). Evening came, when reality sort of hit me. There were only a handful people in the church. Majority of them are KLBCians and I was starting to get nervous and worried. I asked myself, where are the people? would this event be a failure? will there be only a few people? I told Mervin I was nervous but I didn't tell him what I was thinking. I got the team together in the nursery and we started to pray. I was so encouraged by the team spirit, the respect that they have for each other and their humbleness. They are not afraid to pray out loud, they are not afraid to break into songs to worship Him. After our prayer meeting, RK told me that people are waiting and we should open the door. I was pumped up!

The night started off with an awesome, heart-pounding 20 minutes of solos and synchronize performance by 5 gifted drummers from DrummerForChrist. The 5 drummers are Vince Seah, Arthur Kam, Lim Kok Yen, Wagner Daniel and Derrick Siow. They are just so awesome and the best thing is that they are drumming for the Lord.

Then the team from Grace Methodist church led the people to an amazing of praise and worship; leading the people into a time of rest, restoration and renewal.

The GMC team leading worship

Kevin Foo, the youth pastor of Grace Methodist was an amazing blessing to the people as he share the word.

Many hearts were touched that night and few came forward to be prayed for as they rededicate their life back to God. The night ended with the people breaking free in praising God for what He has done that night through the song "Undignified" led by the team together with 4 other drummers from DrummerForChrist.
