Weather was not on our side this morning. It was raining heavily on the way to Tirta Empul - the Bubbling Water temple but when we reach there, it was drizzling but it was walkable without umbrella. The reason this temple is known as the Bubbling Water temple is because the natural water comes from the earth below. Coincidently it's prayer time so there were a lot of local people dressed in their best costume, bringing their offering for prayer. I can see that people in Bali are very devoted to their religion.
On our way to see the volcano, we stop by at a Kopi Luwak manufacturer. Luwak coffee is known as the most expensive coffee in the world. Basically, it is known as the cat poo coffee. We were given 7 different drinks to tried (from coffee to tea). Eli and I ordered a cup of Luwak coffee. An espresso sized cup of coffee Luwak cost us about RM15. I find the coffee rather normal and not as strong as the balinese coffee that I've tried. Oh well, at least I can say that I've drank the most expensive coffee in the world. Right?
The weather was cooling and a little cloudy, I would say it is just perfect. Despite the cloudy view of the volcano but I personally enjoy the cooling weather at the look out point. The only thing that was rather annoying is the people hassling you to buy things from them. We also stop by to look at the beautiful paddy fields in Bali. They are just breathtaking.
We went to Ubud for lunch, the famous Babi Guling in Bali (according to our guide) and I must say it is sooooo delicious! We also tried Bebek Bengil (duck) but the girls find it rather too dry for their liking. After lunch we took a long ride up the mountains to see a lake. This place reminds me of Cameron Highlands. There were markets and stalls that were selling fresh vegetables, fruits and huge strawberries. What makes this place special? Who would have thought that there would be a HUGE lake on top of a mountain right? 1 word - breathtaking!
Wayan took us to a local place for dinner, to tried some ayam betutu. Since he was such a nice guide, we bought him dinner. He was also kind enough to bring us to shop for the cheapest fake jerseys we could find. All of us did some shopping, even Wayan.
The following day he took us to Tanah Lot before we went to the airport. We were supposed to go to Tanah Lot yesterday to see the sunset but we couldn't miss out on the lake. I fell in love with Tanah Lot when I saw it. It reminds me a lot of the 12 apostles in Australia. The sand, the structure of the temples plus the waves crashing on the rocks is just awesome.
Overall, I love some of the places in Bali but I am not a big fan of it unlike some of my friends. I am still grateful that I finally explored Bali.
